This first-of-its-kind award recognizes casualty insurance excellence, innovation and leadership

NEW YORK – March 24, 2021 – Anthony “Tony” DeFelice has been awarded the Advisen 2021 Casualty Insurance Leadership Award, which recognizes outstanding casualty insurance expertise, innovation, leadership and mentorship. Advisen’s 2021 Casualty Insights Conference @ Home Virtual Series Advisory Board selected DeFelice as the first recipient of this award to recognize his contributions to the casualty insurance industry.

DeFelice is the Managing Director of the National Casualty Practice Group of Aon Risk Services for Aon’s U.S. retail operations. His career began at Alexander & Alexander and he has spent over 35 years in the insurance brokerage industry. DeFelice has held various positions of responsibility, overseeing the design, marketing, and implementation of large complex casualty placements, and he is most notable as a specialist in the automotive sector.

David T. Perez, Chief Underwriting Officer of Global Risk Solutions for Liberty Mutual, stated, “Tony is one of the most influential and experienced leaders in casualty insurance today. Even after placing business in three tight markets spanning nearly 40 years, he remains a student of the business. His holistic knowledge of the casualty marketplace and the trends influencing both carrier and buyer behavior, as well as top-tier technical skills, makes him a worthy choice of the 2021 Casualty Insurance Leadership award.”

Joseph Cellura, President of Allied World’s North America Casualty Division, praised DeFelice’s impact on the industry, commenting, “Tony is a steward for the future of the industry, and he treats our community like family. That’s evident in the way he has cultivated long-term partnerships on all sides of our business.”

Jonathon Drummond, Head of Casualty Broking for Willis Towers Watson, spoke highly of DeFelice’s contributions to the industry, stating, “Tony has been and continues to be a world-class leader. His tireless pursuit of excellence, devotion to talent development, relentless client focus, and willingness to challenge conventional beliefs set him apart in our industry and has been an inspiration to many, including myself.”
