Veteran Insurance Journalist Susanne Sclafane Joins Advisen

Sclafane will develop and produce a new series of Advisen publications

New York (September 26, 2011) – Long-time insurance journalist Susanne Sclafane has joined Advisen’s Research & Editorial Division as a Senior Editor. In addition to reporting on commercial insurance news, she will lead Advisen’s new e-Journal series, beginning with the Advisen Management Liability Journal (MLJ), which will debut in November.

Advisen CEO Tom Ruggieri explained the significance of this addition to Advisen’s fast growing Research & Editorial team. “Insurance journalism typically starts with reporting ‘what’ is happening. But an insurance expert with actuarial training and armed with Advisen’s proprietary databases of insurance program, risk and loss data can focus on ‘why’ instead. Susanne’s array of talents will put Advisen information and analytics firepower to great use, and our readers will benefit.”

Susanne’s principal responsibility will be to produce in-depth publications, such as Advisen’s new MLJ, the forthcoming quarterly journal focusing on management liability issues. MLJ and other e-Journals in this series will showcase Advisen’s data, research and analysis, and will feature commentary by the commercial insurance industry’s thought-leaders.

Dave Bradford, President and Editor-in-Chief of Advisen’s Research & Editorial Division, commented: “Susanne will make a strong contribution to Advisen’s already successful platform of topical reports and news publications. Not only is she a talented writer and editor; her technical background makes her uniquely qualified to leverage Advisen’s extensive data resources. I am very excited about the new generation of publications for which she will be responsible.”

Susanne has 30 years of experience in the insurance industry. She was most recently a Managing Editor at National Underwriter and PC360, where she spent the past 16 years. She has authored literally thousands of P&C articles. She originally trained as an Actuary and spent the first half of her career as an Actuarial Analyst and Consultant.

“When Susanne phones, CEOs and other top insurance execs take her call. She is thorough, accurate, fair and highly respected,” added Bradford.
