PLUS was founded in 1986 by industry professionals who recognized the need for a forum for individuals involved in the field of professional liability. Through education and other activities, PLUS equips its members to responsibly address important issues related to professional liability insurance.
Prior to his presidential appointment, Cottrell served on the PLUS International Board of Trustees for several years. He has over 25 years experience in the commercial insurance industry, specializing in underwriting professional indemnity business, Director and Officers liability, and financial institutions insurance. Cottrell is also experienced in the intellectual property insurance and cyber insurance fields. Prior to joining Advisen, he was an active underwriter of a Lloyd’s syndicate that he co-founded in 1990.
