Former Marsh CEO Peter Zaffino has been named global chief operating officer at insurer American International Group (AIG) and John Doyle, formerly CEO of AIG’s commercial insurance unit, was named by Marsh & McLennan Cos. as CEO of Marsh.
Zaffino will lead day-to-day business of all country operations, including US commercial field operations and AIG’s multinational organizations, as well as global business services, administration and communications, AIG said in a statement. He is reunited with Brian Duperreault, AIG’s president and CEO. Duperreault was president and CEO of Marsh & McLennan from 2008 to 2012.
“I worked closely with Brian during his tenure at MMC,” said Zaffino in a statement. “We are both driven to help our organizations achieve their greatest potential. I look forward to joining the talented team at AIG and contributing to the success of the company’s next chapter.”
Meanwhile, Doyle was named to succeed Zaffino at Marsh. Doyle was appointed president of Marsh in April 2016. Prior to joining the insurance broker, Doyle was responsible for AIG’s property, casualty, financial lines, specialty lines, institutional markets, and mortgage guaranty products and services. He also served as president and CEO of Chartis.
Doyle will continue to oversee Marsh’s global brokerage businesses and assume responsibility for Marsh’s global risk and specialties, portfolio business, and operational functions, MMC said.
