English joins as an enterprise risks underwriting Manager and will focus on cyber, intellectual property, reputational harm and supply chain risks. His appointment adds depth to TMK’s international cyber offering as demand for the class increases within the specialist market.

English trained as a lawyer before starting his insurance career as a corporate client advisor specialising in liability. He then held two underwriting jobs in the financial lines departments at large insurance companies where he focused on Cyber, Professional Indemnity, D&O and Pure Financial Loss risks.

Geerken joins TMK as a surety and credit underwriter, working closely with Werner Richter who was appointed to the Frankfurt office in 2014.

Geerken began his career in 1994 as a credit underwriter and later joined an international broking firm where he worked as a specialist in product development and client management. In this role, he helped develop a first of its kind product providing top up credit cover for the German market.

Both hires are part of a growth strategy to build Tokio Marine Kiln’s specialist risk capabilities through its Lloyd’s platform, whilst broadening local capabilities in the German market with in-country experts.

Commenting on the appointments, Oliver Terlinden, Regional Managing Director, said: “As we continue to expand our operation in Germany we have been looking to attract individuals who have a background and skillset to underpin our growth strategy and develop key product lines. Markus and Peter both fit this criteria and bring with them expertise in some of our most in-demand product areas such as cyber, whilst having a broad range of industry knowledge and contacts within the German market.  We look forward to working with them to help grow our business and expand our offering to clients.”
