Liberty International Underwriters announced it is working with BitSight Technologies to provide policyholders with network security in order to catch or reduce the effect of data breaches.
LIU Data Insure policyholders will be able to get up-to-date ratings of their company’s network security. BitSight continuously analyzes, rates and monitors companies’ security position.
“Risk mitigation for cyber exposures does not begin and end with an insurance policy,” said Oliver Brew, vice president of privacy and technology for LIU, in a statement. “We need to work with agents and brokers to provide services that actively mitigate the constant threat posed by hackers.
“By identifying potential attacks before they escalate, BitSight’s innovative technology increases our policyholders’ ability to avoid or reduce the consequences of a data breach.”
LIU said hackers may spend days or weeks looking to exploit the network security weaknesses of a company. BitSight alerts LIU to unusual behaviors by tracking and analyzing publicly observable security events. LIU then notifies the broker and policyholder of any suspicious activity.
BitSight Security Rating Service provides companies with network security ratings every day. Policyholders do not need to give any information. There is no intrusive, testing, LIU added.
