John F. Mullen has joined Lewis Brisbois to chair the firm’s data privacy and network security practice after creating the same practice at Nelson Levine.

Mullen is managing partner of Lewis Brisbois’ new office in the Philadelphia region and he is bringing a team with him that includes partners Christopher DiIenno, Lawrence D. Jackson, Jim Prendergast and Claudia D. McCarron, and associates Sian Schafle, Kevin Dolan, Laura Rieben, Ryan Loughlin, and Kathryn Mellinger.

“We knew we had an industry-leading group, but needed a national platform to continue to extend our market position,” Mullen said, in a statement.

With Mullen and his team on board, Lewis Brisbois now has the largest national data privacy and network security practice in the US, Mullen added.

“About 25 percent of the property-casualty market has purchased cyber coverage,” said Mullen on expanding the practice group. “We have already seen tremendous growth in out practice. Just imagine where it could be heading.”

Mullen’s practice focuses on preparation and defense of network security and privacy data breach events as well as post-breach work. The team has also managed complex multi-district litigation and class actions.

“We are among the largest group of attorneys dedicated solely to data breach security and preparedness,” Mullen said. “Many competitors say they can do this work, but our team does it–and nothing but it.”

Mullen’s presentation credits include Advisen, Net Diligence, the Professional Liability Underwriting Society and the Risk Management Society as well as a long list of presentation credits.

“The feedback on the move and the destination, from our insurance carrier and brokerage partners, has been extremely positive,” Mullen said.
