joannemartenIBM’s chief information security officer Joanne Martin recently left her position to become the “CISO-in-Residence” at Vicinage, LLC, a cybersecurity services firm comprised of independent experts who are available to provide insight to businesses needing assistance and advice in effectively defending their digital assets.

“I have been privileged to have such a long and successful career at such an important and highly regarded technology leader as IBM.  I hope to leverage the insight and experience that I leave with and share it with a broader audience of firms that are struggling with the growing threat of cyber risk and understanding the critical role of the CISO,” said Martin. Vicinage represents an “innovative” structure and application for her skills, she added.

“The CISO-IN-RESIDENCE program is the latest in a series of practice areas in which we are trying to create more dynamic and impactful ways of bridging the communication and understanding between independent experts in cybersecurity that have been at the frontlines for decades and the business community at long last that cyber risk is business risk.” explained Lisa Davis, CEO and founder of Vicinage. Joanne is the ideal candidate to be at the forefront of this new program as the breadth of her insight matches her laser focus on helping companies formulate and execute on cogent and defensible cyber risk positions.”

Martin will focus on providing C-suite executive and board members with tailored advice to meet their goals. The 200+ members of Vicinage’s CISO community are among the most senior cybersecurity and risk executives who manage global risk for Fortune 50 companies and across all industry sectors and who are actively seeking these roles. The industries they work in include energy, financial services, retail, aviation, technology, healthcare, and manufacturing. More information is available at www.vicinage.net.
